Laura Armenta is a Mexican-born choreographer, interdisciplinary movement artist, keynote speaker, and the visionary Founder and CEO of the Armentality Group. With a career spanning over four decades, Laura has dedicated her life to the exploration, teaching, and performance of diverse movement disciplines. Her expertise encompasses contemporary dance, traditional folk dances from around the globe, martial arts, various styles of yoga, and somatic movement practices.

Laura’s extensive teaching experience includes faculty positions at esteemed institutions such as Sivia Derbez Academy, Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids Ballet, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Holland Arts Council, and Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. As a cultural ambassador and advocate for artistic expression, she founded the Laura Armenta Dance Company in 1992 in Mexico City. In 2023, she established the Armentality Trainee Lab, a hub for adult artistic innovation and personal growth.

In addition to her work in dance, Laura is a passionate educator in functional fitness, somatic movement, and wellness. She has designed programs for renowned organizations such as Steelcase, Amway, and the Kellogg Foundation.

Her commitment to community engagement is evident in her residency at the Grandville Avenue Academy for the Arts, where she introduced dance and yoga to South American communities, fostering cultural connection and accessibility. Her outreach efforts have enriched numerous organizations and nonprofits through keynote presentations and artistic collaborations. Laura has partnered with entities such as Artists Creating Together, YWCA West Central Michigan, Juvenile Detention Center-Grand Rapids, City of Kentwood, Heart of West Michigan United Way, Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County, C3 West Michigan, Spectrum Health Hospice, and Gilda’s Club.

At the Armentality Movement Arts Center, Laura devotes her time to teaching, mentoring, and choreographing for her dance company and other artistic organizations. She firmly believes that movement, especially dance, is a transformative tool for self-discovery, empowerment, and the celebration of life. Her philosophy inspires individuals to connect with their authentic selves and embrace the profound potential of their existence.
